Getting to SIMAI2016

The SIMAI 2016 Congress is held at Politecnico di Milano, Campus Bonardi. The main events take plase in Building 11, accessible from via Ampere 2, a pedestrain street in the vicinity of Pzza Leonardo da Vinci and located near the station Piola, along the underground line 2 (green). In the nearby are the tram stops of lines n. 33 and 23, the bus stop of line 92, and the railway station of Milano Lambrate. The site is also accessible through the entrance in via Bonardi 3.

Malpensa Airport

Malpensa Airport – Terminal 1 – is linked to the center of Milan through a shuttle train headed in Milano Cadorna Railway Station. To reach the Congress site from Cadorna Station, take the underground line 2 (green) towards Gobba/Gessate/Cologno to the Piola station. Estimated required time is about 1h10.

A shuttle railways service also serves Milano Centrale station, with departures every half an hour. Moreover, a regular bus service connects Malpensa Airport to the Centrale Railways Station every 20 minutes. For the route from Milano Centrale, see the section below. Estimated required time from Malpensa is about 1h10. The overall cost is about 10 Euro.

Taking a taxi directly from the Malpensa Airport costs about 85 Euro. Estimated required time is about 1h. We do not encourage this option.

Linate Airport

Linate Airport is linked to the center of Milan through the bus line n. 73 of the municipal transport system ATM: the bus takes you at the San Babila underground station of the line 1 (red). From San Babila, take the red line towards Sesto FS, and change to the Green Line in Loreto station, towards Gobba/Gessate/Cologno, to Piola station. Estimated required time is about 45 mins. The overall cost is 1.5 Euro.

Taxi service from the Linate Airport costs about 15 Euro. Estimated required time is about 20 mins.

Orio al Serio Airport

Orio al Serio Airport is connected to Milan Centrale Railways Station through a shuttle bus service. Check the timetable at the airport web site. The travel takes about 1 hour. From Milan Centrale, follow the section below.

Buses may stops at Cascina Gobba or “Lambrate” underground station; from there, take the green line towards Famagosta to get out at Piola. The overall cost is about 9 Euro.

Centrale Railway Station

Take the line 2 (green) of the underground in the Gobba/Gessate/Cologno direction and drop off at Piola station. Estimated required time is about 15 mins.

Lambrate Railway Station

Lambrate railways station is within a walking distance from Campus Bonardi, Politecnico (1100 meters): just take via Pacini (in front of the station), turn left in via Ponzio, then right in via Bonardi. Walking time: 10 mins.
If you prefer, you can take tram n. 23 in front of the station to Leonardo da Vinci Square. Via Bonardi 3, as well as via Ampere are just in front the stop.

“Passante” underground suburbain railways

Many suburban train lines (S lines) travel through the “passante ferroviario”: the most convenient stop to reach the Congress is Porta Venezia. From there, you can take the tram line n. 33 to reach via Bonardi/via Ampere.
